The ingredients for this soap are my regular coconut oil, palm oil and rice bran oil.  The fragrances are supposed to be insect reppelant :peppermint EO, Lemongrass EO and Citronella EO.

Melt and Pour Soaps

This is a fun project and safe enough to do with kids. All you have to do is melt the soap base, add

fragrance and colour, pour into the mold. That's it.

How to make seaweed soap

1.  This is dried seaweed

2.  Soak seaweed in water for three days. Change the water everyday

3.  Puree the seaweed and freeze it

4.  Prepare the frozen seaweed and lye

5.  Pour the lye slowly into the frozen seaweed, mix it

6.  Pour the lye-seaweed solution into oil

7.  Stickblend it

8.  Pour into the mold

9.  Wait  for at least 8 hours :)

African Black Soap

African black soap terkenal karena healing properties yang dimilikinya.  African black soap atau anago soap berasal dari Ghana. Tiap-tiap suku memiliki metode dan ingredients tersendiri untuk membuatnya tetapi pada umumnya anago soap dibuat dari palm kernel oil, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, kulit pisang raja yang dikeringkan, dan cangkang buah kakao yang dikeringkan.  Black soap dapat digunakan untuk shampo, body bar, dan facial bar.  Original Black soap tidak diberi pewangi.

African black soap versi Ritz n Luna  dibuat dengan penambahan Ginger dan Patchouli ( Minyak Nilam) Essential Oil.


Ingredients : Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Cocoa Butter, Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Cocoa powder, Plaintain skin powder, yogurt, Ginger EO, Patchouli EO.

Luxurious Lavender

Ingredients : Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Cocoa Butter Sodium Hydroxide, Cosmetic Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Lavender EO.  By far this is my favorite, I love the purple, the scent of real lavender, the silky lather of the soap :)

The Difference between Essential Oil and Fragrance Oil

Essential Oil (EO) berasal dari ekstraksi tumbuh-tumbuhan dengan menggunakan beberapa cara: distilasi, ekstraksi dengan CO2, dan dengan solvent. Fragrance Oil (FO) adalah wewangian yang diproduksi secara sintesis.  Jadi apakah EO lebih aman daripada FO? Tidak sepenuhnya demikian. Keduanya tidak boleh digunakan secara langsung di kulit, harus dilarutkan dulu dengan carrier oil seperti minyak zaitun, minyak kelapa, minyak almond, dan lain-lain. EO tertentu seperti Cinnamon EO (minyak atsiri kayu manis) mudah mengiritasi kulit, tidak disarankan untuk pemakaian topikal. Beberapa EO juga tidak boleh digunakan pada wanita hamil dan/menyusui seperti Fennel dan Rose karena dapat merangsang kontraksi.

Bagaimana dengan FO? Salah satu zat yang berbahaya yang terdapat di FO adalah phtalate. Beberapa studi menunjukkan phthalate merupakan hormon disruptor.  In studies of rodents exposed to certain phthalates, high doses have been shown to change hormone levels and cause birth defect. (wikipedia)
Selain phthalate, sebuah FO bisa terdiri dari 40 ingredients dan produsen tidak wajib untuk mencantumkan seluruh ingredientsnya karena wewangian merupakan trade secret.
Jadi bagaimana sebaiknya? Untuk EO pilih yang tidak mengiritasi kulit dan aman. Untuk FO pilih yang skin safe (tidajk semua FO skin safe, ada yang untuk ruangan, lilin, dan lain-lain) dan sebaiknya ada keterangan dari produsen bahwa FO tersebut phthalate free.

Green Tea Latte Soap

Ingredients : Coconut oil, Palm oil, Rice Bran oil, Goat Milk, Green Tea, Cardamom, Clove, Sodium Hydroxide, Chlorophyll Powder, White Tea FO, Green Tea FO, Nutmeg EO

How to make green tea soap with goat milk

1. Infuse green tea dan herb lainnya di coconut oil

2.  Saring infused oil

3. Bekukan goat milk


4. Timbang NaOH (lye) dengan timbangan digital

5. Tuang lye ke frozen milk perlahan, aduk.

6.  Tuang lye solution ke infused oil, aduk dengan stick blender. Tambahkan Essential oil dan/atau Fragance oil

7.  Tuang adonan ke dalam cetakan. Swirl or do other decoration style

8.  Cut
